Open-source ATS for teams that want control
Open-source ATS for teams that want control — jobs, pipeline, candidates, interviews, voice and smart search in ⌘K, and the SSO/MFA/audit baseline enterprise evals ask for.
Generic SaaS ATS won't match your process
Serious hiring teams need a configurable product and a real implementer — not another self-serve signup that bends your workflow to someone else's defaults.
-
Off-the-shelf SaaS won't fit
Generic ATS products force your process into their stages, fields, and permissions. Your hiring workflow is the product — it should not be a workaround.
-
Configuration alone is not enough
Toggles and templates help — until you need custom stages, integrations, branding, and AI that match your stack. You need a product you can shape, not rent as-is.
-
You need an implementer, not a login
Open source gives you the foundation. SparxIT turns The Talent App into a production deployment — workflows, hosting, AI, and support — without multi-tenant SaaS lock-in.
What makes The Talent App an open-source ATS?
An open-source ATS gives you complete source code access under the MIT license — unlike SaaS platforms where you rent features but never own the product. You can inspect, modify, and deploy The Talent App yourself, or have SparxIT implement a custom deployment.
This means full data ownership, no vendor lock-in, and the flexibility to shape your ATS to match your exact hiring process — not the other way around. Learn how it works or explore the complete setup process.
Built by SparxIT. Proven in production.
The Talent App powers real recruiting at SparxIT — and is delivered the same way for enterprise customers who need a tailored ATS, not another login.
-
In production at SparxIT
The same product we sell is how SparxIT runs hiring — not a demo fork.
-
Open source foundation
MIT-licensed core you can inspect, fork, and own. No black-box vendor platform.
-
Custom deployments
Workflows, branding, AI, voice and smart search, SSO/MFA, compliance settings, and hosting shaped to your stack — not multi-tenant SaaS.
-
Enterprise security baseline
Staff SAML SSO, TOTP MFA, append-only audit log, and compliance settings — so IT and security questionnaires do not stall the deal.
Complete open-source ATS pipeline
A complete ATS — from first job post to signed offer, with voice and smart search in ⌘K, plus the SSO, MFA, audit, and compliance baseline enterprise TA and IT teams expect in eval.
-
Jobs
Create and publish roles with structured requirements and hiring workflows. Active and Completed tabs; on closed jobs, assign or change hire.
-
Unified Hiring
One workspace at /hiring — Board and List views, shared job picker, and a Do strip of next actions above the pipeline.
-
Pipeline
Kanban stages from applied to hired. Pin jobs, auto-sort active candidates to the top, drag-and-drop moves, and audit trail.
-
Do strip
Always-on next actions on Hiring → Pipeline — Decide, Approve pending, Schedule, Add candidates, Chase feedback, Clear no-shows. Tap to focus the board or add people. Hidden when the job is paused.
-
Global Search
Jump to jobs, candidates, and interviews with the ⌘K command palette. Tap the mic to dictate your query — browser speech recognition fills the search box; nothing is recorded or stored.
-
Smart hiring search
Type natural phrases like “Amit Verma Project Manager” or “React 5 years Bangalore” in ⌘K — parsed into hiring-list filters (name, role, skills, experience, location) so recruiters skip manual filter clicks.
-
Talent database
Searchable profiles with notes, tags, and history. Bulk CSV/Naukri import maps locations and skills — optionally apply skills to every row.
-
Digital application
Question-bank forms with randomised questions, BGV references, recruiter fill-on-behalf, and one-click Send Job Details from the candidate drawer.
-
Interviews
My Interviews hub — day-grouped upcoming and past, countdown, Join for video, and conflict warnings. Schedule rounds, panels, feedback, and scorecards. Interview emails include calendar invites (.ics) for one-click add to Outlook or Google Calendar.
-
Assessments
Job-linked evaluations with AI tiered generation, file-upload questions (file or Drive/Docs link), live integrity monitoring, pass gating, and branded exam portal.
-
Email
Branded email via AWS SES — hire, interview, and assessment notices, plus instant panelist schedule mail and an optional morning digest for that day's interviews.
-
Careers page
Public job listings with JobPosting structured data (JSON-LD) on each role — machine-readable for search engines. Branded pages your team can share without a separate careers site.
-
Applicant portal
Candidates apply, verify email, complete digital forms, see job match scores, and track status in a branded portal.
-
Mobile & PWA
Installable progressive web app with mobile-first UI — review pipelines and submit feedback from your phone.
-
Branding
Customize logos, colors, and careers page to match your company identity.
-
Reports
Pipeline metrics, hire-based conversion, time-to-hire from hired_at, and source tracking for data-driven recruiting.
-
SAML SSO
Staff sign-in via SAML 2.0 (single sign-on with company credentials) — Okta, Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace, and other IdPs through self-hosted Auth. Built for enterprise IT and security evaluations.
-
Staff MFA
TOTP multi-factor authentication (extra security code after password) for staff accounts. Enroll authenticator apps from Settings → Security; login challenge after password.
-
Audit log
Append-only log (permanent record) of staff actions on candidates, roles, and interviews — who changed what and when. Read-only viewer for admins and HR in security questionnaires.
-
Compliance settings
Privacy policy URL, grievance officer, and sub-processor list in Settings → Compliance. A configurable baseline for DPDP and GDPR reviews — not a certification.

Custom pricing
No seat tiers. No self-serve subscription plans. Scope is scoped to your deployment — discovery first, then a clear proposal from SparxIT.
What drives scope
- Hiring volume and number of concurrent roles
- Workflow complexity — stages, approvals, assessments
- SAML SSO, staff MFA, audit log, and compliance configuration
- Hosting model — managed by SparxIT or on your infra
- Branding, training, and ongoing support
Developers can still self-host from GitHub at no software cost.

Frequently asked questions
Open source for developers, custom deployments when you want help — not multi-tenant SaaS.
What is The Talent App?
The Talent App is an open-source applicant tracking system (ATS) for teams that want control. It covers jobs, pipeline, talent database, interviews, assessments, applicant portal, ⌘K search with voice dictation and smart hiring filters, SAML SSO, staff TOTP MFA, append-only audit log, compliance settings, and an installable mobile PWA under the MIT license. Learn more at https://www.thetalentapp.io/open-source-ats/
Do you sell SaaS?
No. There is no multi-tenant SaaS signup or free trial. Developers can self-host the open-source repository under the MIT license. Teams that want a production deployment can book a demo. See also https://www.thetalentapp.io/greenhouse-alternative/
How does pricing work?
Pricing for custom implementations is scoped to hiring volume, workflow complexity, integrations, hosting, branding, and support — there are no seat tiers. Self-hosting from GitHub remains free of software license fees. Book a demo at https://www.thetalentapp.io/demo/
Is the software free for developers?
Yes. The Talent App is MIT licensed. You can clone, modify, and deploy it for personal or commercial use without subscription fees. Optional AI features require your own Gemini API key.
Can I self-host The Talent App?
Yes. Clone the GitHub repository, configure a Supabase project, set environment variables, and deploy to Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, or your own infrastructure. Step-by-step guide: https://www.thetalentapp.io/self-host-ats/
What AI features does The Talent App include?
Built-in AI includes resume parsing, job fit scoring, interview kit generation, AI assessment drafting, hire-based pipeline health grades, and red-flag detection. Chitragupta watches and nudges on stalls; the Pipeline Do strip shows click-now actions and Radar shows weekly volume and strategy — both deterministic, not AI. AI is optional — add a GEMINI_API_KEY to enable it.
How is The Talent App different from generic SaaS ATS tools?
Generic SaaS ATS products force your process into their defaults. The Talent App is open source and configurable; SparxIT implements a deployment that matches your stack — without multi-tenant lock-in or seat-based SaaS pricing. You get full data ownership options and a real implementer, not just a login.
Does The Talent App work on mobile?
Yes. The Talent App is mobile-first and ships as an installable progressive web app (PWA). Recruiters can review pipelines, submit interview feedback, and receive notifications from iOS or Android without a native app store download.
Does The Talent App support SSO and MFA?
Yes. Staff can sign in with SAML SSO (Okta, Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace, and other IdPs via self-hosted Auth) and enroll TOTP MFA from Settings → Security. Both require GoTrue configuration on your deployment — SparxIT configures this for managed implementations.
Is there an audit log for compliance reviews?
Yes. The Talent App includes an append-only audit log of staff actions on candidates, roles, and interviews. Admins and HR review it in Settings → Security. Compliance settings (privacy policy, grievance officer, sub-processor list) provide a baseline for DPDP and GDPR questionnaires — not SOC 2 or GDPR certification.
Do interview emails include calendar invites?
Yes. When you schedule an interview, staff and panelists receive email with a calendar invite (.ics) attachment — one-click add to Outlook or Google Calendar. Video meeting links are included when configured; there is no Microsoft Teams auto-meeting generation.
Does The Talent App support voice search?
Yes. The ⌘K command palette has a mic button that uses your browser’s speech recognition to dictate a search query into the box — useful on mobile or hands-free. Speech is handled in the browser; The Talent App does not store voice recordings.
What is smart hiring search?
In ⌘K, type natural phrases like “Amit Verma Project Manager” or “React 5 years Bangalore.” The palette parses name, role, skills, experience, and location into hiring-list filters and opens filtered candidate results — so recruiters skip clicking through filter panels. It is hiring-filter parsing, not a company-wide AI chatbot or semantic search across all data.
