Open-source ATS for teams that want control
Move every role from pipeline to offer — self-host, or have SparxIT implement it, with your own Gemini key, SSO, MFA, and an audit log. Gemini is optional; Pipeline Health, the Do strip, and Radar stay deterministic. Your data stays yours — no seat lock-in, unlike Greenhouse, Ashby, or Lever.
Comparing open-source ATS tools? License, stack, and self-host fit are on the best open-source ATS page. This homepage is the product.
Generic SaaS ATS won't match your process
Serious hiring teams need a configurable product and a real implementer — not another self-serve signup that bends your workflow to someone else's defaults.
-
Off-the-shelf SaaS won't fit
Generic ATS products force your process into their stages, fields, and permissions. Your hiring workflow is the product — it should not be a workaround.
-
Configuration alone is not enough
Toggles and templates help — until you need custom stages, integrations, branding, and AI that match your stack. You need a product you can shape, not rent as-is.
-
You need an implementer, not a login
Open source gives you the foundation. SparxIT turns The Talent App into a production deployment — workflows, hosting, AI, and support — without multi-tenant SaaS lock-in.
What makes The Talent App an open-source ATS?
An open-source ATS gives you complete source code access under the MIT license — unlike SaaS platforms where you rent features but never own the product. You can inspect, modify, and deploy The Talent App yourself, or have SparxIT implement a custom deployment.
That means full data ownership, no vendor lock-in, and room to shape the product around your hiring process. Comparing open-source ATS tools? Use the best open-source ATS comparison. You can also see how implementation works or follow the self-host ATS guide.
SparxIT hires on The Talent App
SparxIT uses The Talent App for its own recruiting — the same product we implement for a custom deployment, not a demo kept on the side.
-
In production at SparxIT
Live roles at SparxIT run on this product. There is no separate demo fork.
-
Open source foundation
MIT-licensed core you can inspect, fork, and own. No black-box vendor platform.
-
Custom deployments
Workflows, branding, AI, voice and smart search, SSO/MFA, compliance settings, and hosting shaped to your stack — not multi-tenant SaaS.
-
Enterprise security baseline
Staff SAML SSO, TOTP MFA, append-only audit log, and compliance settings — so the identity and audit rows of IT questionnaires have a live answer.
Complete open-source ATS pipeline
From first job post to offer on an open-source ATS you self-host or have SparxIT implement. Bring your own Gemini key, keep SSO, MFA, and an audit log, and own the data — without seat lock-in.

Gemini AI, and ops that are not AI
Resume parsing, fit scores, interview kits, assessments, red flags, and Chitragupta use Gemini when you add an API key. Pipeline Health, the Do strip, and Radar do not — they are deterministic.
AI built into your ATS
Optional. These stay off until you add a Gemini API key — no extra product fees.
-
Resume AI parsing
Pulls skills, experience, and education from PDFs with Gemini.
-
Job fit scoring
Gemini fit scores for recruiters. Applicant-facing match ranking stays deterministic.
-
Interview kits
Role-specific questions and rubrics, drafted with Gemini for the recruiter to edit.
-
AI assessment generation
Drafts tiered MCQ, coding, and subjective sections from a job description — review before publish.
-
Chitragupta
Autonomous agentNotices when a role stalls or interview feedback is overdue, and nudges the recruiter who should act.
-
Red flag detection
Flags inconsistencies in a profile before interviews.
Deterministic ops
Pipeline Health, the Do strip, and Radar run on rules and math. They do not call Gemini.
-
Pipeline health
A–F grade from hire-based conversion, in plain language, with a next step on the Do strip. Rules and math, not Gemini.
-
Do strip
Click-now actions on the pipeline — decide, approve, schedule, add candidates, chase feedback, clear no-shows. Fixed rules, not a model.
-
Radar
Plans the week on the pipeline board: volume, who is in play, and where the funnel is stuck. Deterministic ops math, not Gemini.
Self-hosters: Gemini features stay off until you add a GEMINI_API_KEY.
Pipeline Health, the Do strip, and Radar run without it — no vendor lock-in, no hidden fees.
Custom pricing
No seat tiers. No self-serve subscription plans. Pricing is scoped to your deployment — discovery first, then a clear proposal from SparxIT.
What drives scope
- Hiring volume and number of concurrent roles
- Workflow complexity — stages, approvals, assessments
- SAML SSO, staff MFA, audit log, and compliance configuration
- Hosting model — managed by SparxIT or on your infra
- Branding, training, and ongoing support
Developers can still self-host from GitHub at no software cost.

Frequently asked questions
Open source for developers, custom deployments when you want help — not multi-tenant SaaS.
What is The Talent App?
The Talent App is an open-source applicant tracking system (ATS) for teams that want control. It covers jobs, pipeline, talent database, interviews, assessments, applicant portal, ⌘K search with voice dictation and smart hiring filters, SAML SSO, staff TOTP MFA, append-only audit log, compliance settings, and an installable mobile PWA under the MIT license. Learn more at https://www.thetalentapp.io/open-source-ats/
Do you sell SaaS?
No. There is no multi-tenant SaaS signup or free trial. Developers can self-host the open-source repository under the MIT license. Teams that want a production deployment can book a demo. See also https://www.thetalentapp.io/greenhouse-alternative/
How does pricing work?
Pricing for custom implementations is scoped to hiring volume, workflow complexity, integrations, hosting, branding, and support — there are no seat tiers. Self-hosting from GitHub remains free of software license fees. Book a demo at https://www.thetalentapp.io/demo/
Is the software free for developers?
Yes. The Talent App is MIT licensed. You can clone, modify, and deploy it for personal or commercial use without subscription fees. Optional AI features require your own Gemini API key.
Can I self-host The Talent App?
Yes. Clone the GitHub repository, configure a Supabase project, set environment variables, and deploy to Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, or your own infrastructure. Step-by-step guide: https://www.thetalentapp.io/self-host-ats/
What AI features does The Talent App include?
Optional Gemini AI — on only when you add a GEMINI_API_KEY — covers resume parsing, recruiter job-fit scores, interview kits, assessment drafting, red-flag detection, and Chitragupta, which nudges the team when a role stalls or interview feedback is overdue. Separate from AI: Pipeline Health grades conversion with deterministic rules, the Do strip lists click-now actions, and Radar plans weekly volume and funnel moves. Those three do not call Gemini.
How is The Talent App different from generic SaaS ATS tools?
Generic SaaS ATS products force your process into their defaults. The Talent App is open source and configurable; SparxIT implements a deployment that matches your stack — without multi-tenant lock-in or seat-based SaaS pricing. You get full data ownership options and a real implementer, not just a login.
Does The Talent App work on mobile?
Yes. The Talent App is mobile-first and ships as an installable progressive web app (PWA). Recruiters can review pipelines, submit interview feedback, and receive notifications from iOS or Android without a native app store download.
Does The Talent App support SSO and MFA?
Yes. Staff can sign in with SAML SSO (Okta, Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace, and other IdPs via self-hosted Auth) and enroll TOTP MFA from Settings → Security. Both require GoTrue configuration on your deployment — SparxIT configures this for managed implementations.
Is there an audit log for compliance reviews?
Yes. The Talent App includes an append-only log of staff changes made in the app to candidates, roles, and interviews. Admins and HR review it in Settings → Security. Compliance settings (privacy policy, grievance officer, sub-processor list) provide a baseline for DPDP and GDPR questionnaires — not SOC 2 or GDPR certification.
Do interview emails include calendar invites?
Yes. When you schedule an interview, staff and panelists receive email with a calendar invite (.ics) attachment — one-click add to Outlook or Google Calendar. Video meeting links are included when configured; there is no Microsoft Teams auto-meeting generation.
Does The Talent App support voice search?
Yes. The ⌘K command palette has a mic button that uses your browser’s speech recognition to dictate a search query into the box — useful on mobile or hands-free. Speech is handled in the browser; The Talent App does not store voice recordings.
What is smart hiring search?
In ⌘K, type natural phrases like “Amit Verma Project Manager” or “React 5 years Bangalore.” The palette parses name, role, skills, experience, and location into hiring-list filters and opens filtered candidate results — so recruiters skip clicking through filter panels. It is hiring-filter parsing, not a company-wide AI chatbot or semantic search across all data.
